Awards we have received:
Excellence in Design Award sponsored by Autodesk and Industrial Design sponsored by General Motors. These awards are given to the team showing knowledge of robotics in engineering in designing their robot. We showed knowledge of what we wanted to achieve (the game), and a unique approach in designing the robot.
Industrial Safety Award sponsored by Underwriters Laboratories, and the Judges’ Award. These awards are given to the team that is competitive but very safe too, and also qualifies for many different awards, although doesn't quite achieve those awards. This award recognizes a team for their own safety as well as their contribution toward
the safety of others. Safety is the top priority on Team Spyder. The Judges' award is for the team that reaches the top 3 for several awards and are deserving of an award, but didn't achieve one.
Motorola Quality Award. The team receiving this award exhibits a quality in design of their robot. The operation of the robot is also a factor for this award.
General Motors Industrial Design Award, Regional Winner, Underwriters Laboratories Industrial Safety Award. These two awards are given to teams who have both shown superiordesign of their robot, when achieving the major goal, and also showing a major respect for the safety of themselves and others. The safety award goes to the team using safety procedures both on the field and off, while helping keep others safe too. The design award is given to the team who’s design is both unique and practical.
Highest Rookie Seed, Regional Winner, This award is given to the Rookie team that sits the highest in the standings at the regional. We received this award at the 2005 San Diego regional, which was our first year as a FIRST team.
