sTims is a system utilized by FIRST to make it easier for student to find and join FIRST Robotics FRC teams. It also makes the submition process for student forms quicker and easier. Our team actively supports and utilizes the sytsem, and we also aid in using it for younger teams we mentor.
If your interested in looking at our goals and what we want to do with this team check it out here.
Our team runs like a business. We have many groups all working together towards a larger goal. One half of our team is working on designing and making a “product.” This product is a robot that we use to compete in an annually released game. The other side of the team works on selling our product to potential sponsors. Every year we need to obtain $60,000 minimum to compete, so working with sponsors is a critical role. To obtain attention, our media team works on creating a website, animations, and memorabilia that we distribute to other teams and potential sponsors. Imagery is very important for Team Spyder.
Our team is separated into several specialized groups in order to more efficiently approach building our robot and publicizing our team. Our team is divided into a system where we have a leader of the team, and then a head of each separated team. Each team also corresponds to a mentor or mentors (depending on the team), who then help train new team members and help older members achieve their goals both with the robot and resolving any other problems on the team. Our sub-teams each have a very important role in our team, whether it be publicizing the team, building the robot, or programming the robot to listen to our commands, each role is just as important as the next.
